Benefit dinner for family who lost their home to fire

Published Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Friends and neighbors of Jimmy and Betty Johnston are hosting a night of food and entertainment to raise money for the couple whose house burned down over two weeks ago.

The Johnstons lost their entire home to a fire which could have been started by an indoor heater, said Beth Winterbottom, who is coordinating the benefit dinner.

The chili soup benefit dinner will be at Concord Baptist Church in Calera on Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. A local bluegrass band will perform as the evening’s entertainment. The Johnstons are registered at Wal-Mart and any donations can be given to them at the benefit.

For more information about this event or helping the Johnston family, contact Beth Winterbottom at bethuabgrad@yahoo.com.
