In 2007 Eraka Sims participated in the Women’s Water Walk around Lake Erie’s 817-mile perimeter. A group of Native American women have made a walk around each of the Great Lakes since 2003 to bring greater awareness of the pollution of our waters. In relay-style, they carry the Eagle Staff and a bucket of water from the lake they are walking around.
