A Montevallo High School senior has been invited to participate in the USA Junior Nationals Championship Sports Festival in basketball.

After an outstanding performance in the USA Junior Nationals all-state high school basketball competition, Cambia L. Smith, a senior at Montevallo and daughter of Daryl W. and Betty Smith, will participate in the girls events, to be held July 22-28 in Columbus, Ohio.

Based in Madison, Wis., the USA Junior Nationals provides one of the top amateur competitions in the United States and offers its program to all athletes who have a high interest in basketball and are interested in developing their skills and technique though statewide, national and international competition.

This is a unique opportunity for all athletes to improve their basketball talent through highly organized competition.

Information about participating athletes is provided to educational institutions throughout the United States.

USA Junior Nationals offers one-day competition at 37 sites throughout the country in the spring with competitions scheduled through the South, Midwest, East and West Coast.

Athletes who demonstrate advance skills, team leadership, competitive spirit and good sportsmanship go on to the next level of play which is the USA Junior Nationals Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio
