PHS senior to compete on college wrestling team

Pelham High School senior Adam Barbee

announced he will attend Augustana College in fall 2002 as a member of the school’s wrestling team.

Barbee lettered four times at Pelham under coach Bob Parker.

He placed second in the 2001-02 Alabama state high school tournament in the 152-pound weight class.

Prior to that, he won the 6A sectional championship in Montgomery.

He also won the King of the Mountain Invitational at 155 pounds.

During his senior year, he picked up 47 victories, 26 of those being pins.

He was third at 152 lbs. in both the Pelham Panther Classic and the Hoover Tournament.

He was also invited to participate in the National High School Seniors Wrestling Championship in Cleveland, Ohio.

Barbee was the Pelham team captain during his senior season and won the trophy for most wins on the team.

Barbee is the son of Becky and Nicky Barbee of Trussville.

He will join the Augustana wrestling program in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
