The city of Pelham is in the process of updating its comprehensive plan.

City officials are asking citizens for their input on the update with an online survey on the city’s website, www.pelhamonline.com. The city has also included the survey in the city newsletter.

The city is working with the Birmingham Regional Planning Commission on the update, which serves as a 25-year projection on matters such as population growth, land use, community facilities transportation and capital improvements.

The city will have a public involvement meeting Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. to discuss the update.

Questions on the survey include should the city pursue recreational and tourism opportunities, should the city strictly enforce subdivision regulations and other codes, and

should the city pursue more commercial development.

The survey also asks for demographics about residents such as age, work location and family income.

In addition, the survey asks residents to rate city services including police, fire, garbage and sewer as &uot;excellent,&uot; &uot;good,&uot; &uot;fair&uot; or &uot;poor.&uot;

City Engineer Jesse Jowers said the current comprehensive plan was completed in the late 1970s. He said initial response to the survey has been positive.

&uot;We are getting a pretty good inflow of information right now. Hopefully it will keep coming in,&uot; he said
