For the best start possible

Greg and Pam Wood of Alabaster have gone out of their way again this year to help our schools.

They are among a small but dedicated group of individuals across the county who work daily for the betterment of the schoolchildren in Shelby County.

And we certainly owe them a lot.

With classroom funds depleted across the state, more and more supplies must be purchased by the students themselves.

Wood Discount Pharmacy in Alabaster created &uot;school packs&uot; from the lists of supplies that each Alabaster school gave to its students.

They packaged these supplies and sold them to parents at wholesale plus $5 which, in turn, was donated to five very appreciative Alabaster schools.

In addition, individuals from the community donated funds to pay for school packs for students who were unable to purchase their own.

The Woods and others in our community are partners with the school system in ensuring that students get the best start possible to each new school year.

Kudos to them and all the others who have made preparing Shelby County’s children for the future their highest priority
