The Chelsea Hornets moved to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in region play with an impressive 21-0 win over Moody Friday night at Hornet Stadium.
The win was the first shut out of the year for Chelsea.
&uot;Defense wins ball games,&uot; Chelsea head coach Watt Parker said. &uot;After three games we have allowed only 12 points. Ryan Dempsey, Andrew Lafferty, Brad Bearden and Emery Wilder are pacing our defense.&uot;
Clay Craft had another good game for the Hornets, rushing for 149 yards on 22 attempts and two touchdowns. Emmitt Sills also scored a touchdown for the Hornets in the win over Moody.
Next on tap for the Hornets will be region and in-county foe Shelby County High School, coming off a 26-13 win over Hayden.
&uot;This week will be tough,&uot; Parker said. &uot;Shelby County has the best athletes we have faced and they will want to come to our house and take the game away from us. We must play the best we have played all year to be in the game.&uot;
Parker said a lot of things have to go right for his team to pull out a victory against SCHS.
&uot;If we make no mistakes and have another super defensive effort we might have a chance to beat the Wildcats, but it will not be easy,&uot; Parker said. &uot;Their team speed really scares us, but it should be a fun game to watch.&uot;
Kickoff for the game is set for 7 p.m. at Hornet Stadium
