Last Thursday Bessemer police officers located the truck owned by Hernan Torres, the 25-year-old Center Point resident whose body was found in the Cahaba River near Helena on Aug. 2.

The new information on the homicide investigation was made public in a press release by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

Law enforcement officials have been searching for Torres’ customized, red 1998 Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck since his disappearance on Aug. 1.

The truck was found in the parking lot of Master’s Economy Inn on 9th Avenue SW in Bessemer.

Gov. Don Siegelman offered $5,000 in late August for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death.

Shelby County Sheriff James Jones requests anyone with information about Torres’ murder or the location of his truck at the Bessemer hotel to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 669-4181.

&uot;Our investigators have been actively following up every lead attempting to solve this homicide,&uot; Jones said. &uot;We believe someone out there has crucial information that will lead us to who murdered Mr. Torres.&uot;
