Columbiana clerk honored as CMC

Terri Collum CMC, city clerk of Columbiana, has been awarded the prestigious designation of Certified Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks for achieving its high educational experience and service requirements.

Collum has been employed by the city of Columbiana since October 2000. She serves as city clerk, treasurer and revenue officer.

She attained her CMC designation through completion of the IIMC-approved Municipal Clerks Institute Program conducted by the College of Continuing Studies at the University of Alabama.

The program provides more than 100 hours of in-depth courses in managerial and leadership skills, social and interpersonal concerns and technical training needed to deal with changes taking place in government today.

She has also attended courses and seminars sponsored by the Alabama League of Municipalities and has completed other courses, seminars and conferences relating to local government.

She has been a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks since June 2001.

County to sponsor summer feeding

The Shelby County Child Nutrition Program will sponsor a Summer Feeding Program at three school locations this year.

According to Cindy Warner, public relations supervisor for the system, the summer food service program is offered to children ages 18 and younger.

Those children are offered free meals without regard to race, age, sex, disability or national origin.

Adults may also participate, but will be charged $1.50 for breakfast and $2.50 for lunch.

Warner reported the locations for the Summer Feeding Program will be Montevallo Elementary, June 1 through July 16; Vincent High School, June 7 through July 2; and Vincent Elementary, June 1 through Aug. 6.

All sites will be closed July 5.

Also, according to Warner, the program will serve breakfast from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
