Bridge Week kicks off for Birmingham enthusiasts

The ACBL and Birmingham Bridge Club, located at 2112 Columbiana Road in Birmingham, will present Bridge Week in North America Jan. 6-12. All games upgraded club championships.

The week full of fun will include special games, super hospitality, prizes and extra master points celebrating the anniversary of the Culbertson-Lentz &uot;Battle of the Century&uot; in 1931 which introduced millions to the excitement of modern bridge.

According to the club, it is bringing back the glory days in an event that is not a tournament but better.

Schedule of Events

Monday, Jan. 6, Tuxedo Kickoff

Game at 10 a.m.

In 1931, the most important games like the Battle of the Century were played in formal clothes. If you tux is in the cleaners, wear your best blacks and whites and enjoy special goodies.

Jan. 6 at 6 p.m., team &045; how to make three people mad at you at the same time. Start lining up your teammates now and find that special recipe.

Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. open games, but everyone must play with a new guest (non-ACBL member). There will be no entry fee and the games will be scored as upgraded club championships.

Wednesday, 10 a.m. There will be an old-fashioned cake walk after the game and lots of homemade goodies.

Thursday, 10 a m. and 6:30 p.m. Both games will be for pro-am players over 200/under 200 mphs). Call our partnership desk for help finding a partner. the N/S and E/W winners get a free pass for the Bridge Marathon Weekend.

Friday, 10 a.m. Whether it is a formal top hat or crazy creation, you need to wear a hat to play. A Bridge Marathon Weekend Pass will be awarded for the most original creation.

Those who purchase a $20 Weekend Pass can play and eat in all nine events.

Friday, 7:30 p.m., pizza pairs and pizza after the game; Friday, midnight, midnight madness PJ teams; Saturday, about 3:30 a.m., ham and biscuit breakfast; Saturday, 8 a.m., early bird pairs; Saturday, 1:30 p.m., afternoon pairs; Saturday, 7:30 p.m., pairs, barbecue after the game; Saturday, midnight, midnight losensnooze teams; Sunday, about 3:30, breakfast; Sunday, 8 a.m., early bird pairs; and Sunday at 1:30 grand finale pairs. There will be a prize for the best outfits for PJ games.
