Youth Soccer

The Shelby County Branch of the Birmingham YMCA is currently registering for the spring season of youth soccer. League is open to boys and girls ages 3-12.

Registration fees are $55 for YMCA members and $80 for non-members plus a $15 uniform fee for both.

The Shelby County Branch of the Birmingham YMCA is currently registering for the spring season of adult basketball. Registration fees are $500 per team. League play is on Sunday afternoons.

Youth Football

A Columbiana Youth Football League meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Shelby County High School Field House.

Basketball Camp

Applications are being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply.

Past participants include Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Crater, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antwan Jamison. Players from 50 states and 8 foreign countries attended the 2002 camp.

College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team.

Lead-Off Banquet

The Shelby County High School Baseball first annual Lead-Off Banquet will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Alabama 4-H Center.

Guest speaker will be UAB head basketball coach Larry Giangrosso.

He will be joined by professional players Dax Norris, Jarrod Kingrey, Justin Carter and Derrick Lewis.

Baseball, Softball Registration

Registration for the MYAA Youth Boys Baseball and Girls Softball for ages 4-14 will be: Saturday, Jan. 25 from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 30 from 6-8 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 1 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Location is Stephens Park in Montevallo.

Please bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate. Cost is boys: $100, second boy, $180 and third boy, $240; girls: $95, second girl, $175 and third girl $235.

Fourth child is free.

Softball registration for the 2003 season will be: Jan. 31, 6-8 p.m.; Feb. 1, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Feb. 8, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Columbiana softball field.
