OMHS girls beat VHHS, boys fall in first round

The Oak Mountain High School Lady Eagles defeated Vestavia Hills High School in the first round of the Class 6A, Area 6 tournament at Hoover High School 29-26.

The varsity boys fell in the first round of play and will travel for their sub-regional game. Megan Anderson led the way for the Lady Eagles with seven points and Anna Cramer and Lane Wilkerson each scored six points in the win.

Sarah McClellan chipped in five points and Kristin Jordan scored four.

The first period ended in a 6-6 tie before Oak Mountain took an 18-10 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the third period Vestavia scored five points while the Lady Eagles could manage only three, cutting the OMHS lead to 21-15 heading into the final period of play. Vestavia outscored the Lady Eagles 11-8 in the fourth period, but it was too little too late as OMHS went on to claim the win, 29-26.

The lady Eagles were scheduled to play Hoover High School in the second round Monday night at Hoover
