The Oak Mountain Eagles and Lady Eagles were eliminated from the Class 6A playoffs with sub-regional losses last week.

The boys team was defeated by Woodlawn 38-35 while the girls were defeated 57-35 by Huffman.

Poor shooting proved to be the downfall for the OMHS boys in their loss to Woodlawn, hitting only 9-of-40 shots from the field including only 2-of-8 from behind the three-point arc.

&uot;We got a lot of shots in the paint, but we just couldn’t hit them,&uot; Oak Mountain head coach Jerry North said. &uot;I thought we played pretty well on defense, but we just had an off game shooting.&uot;

Adam Luquire led the Eagles with 14 points and seven rebounds. Brian Adams chipped in nine points and Matt Taylor added eight in the loss.

Woodlawn took an early lead in the game, outscoring the Eagles 11-8 in the first period.

Woodlawn extended that lead to 21-16 at the half.

OMHS chipped away at that lead in the third period, outscoring Woodlawn 12-8 in the third period to cut the lead to 29-28 heading into the fourth.

Woodlawn outscored OMHS 9-7 in the fourth period to take the 38-35 win.

For the Oak Mountain girls, Lane Wilkerson was the only Lady Eagle to break into double figures in a 57-35 loss to Huffman.

Wilkerson scored 15 in the loss while Catherine Spiker and Megan Alderson chipped in six.

Ashley Clouser scored five points for the Lady Eagles in the loss. Huffman took a commanding 17-5 lead in the first period and the Lady Eagles never recovered.

The Lady Eagles made a charge in the second period, outscoring Huffman 15-9 to cut the lead to 26-18 at the half.

The shooting woes picked back up for the Lady Eagles in the third, managing only five points while allowing Huffman 15 and giving them a commanding 41-23 lead heading into the final period of play.

The Lady Eagles ended the season with a 19-13 record
