Special to the Reporter

A Stand Up America Rally will be held at the Pelham Civic Complex this Thursday, Feb. 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Sen. Hank Erwin and the entire Shelby County legislative delegation will host the event.

Special guests to be featured at the event are Chief Justice Roy Moore of the Alabama Supreme Court and Adjutant General Crayton Bowen of the Alabama National Guard.

Gov. Bob Riley has been invited to attend as well.

The patriotic rally is being organized in an effort to support the troops being called to active duty to represent our country, as well as the President and other governmental leaders directing the nation during this time of peril.

The rally is being hailed as a family-oriented event and one that is educational and inspiring for children.

Various branches of the military will be represented along with police and fire departments from across Shelby County.

Families with loved ones serving in the military are encouraged to attend and bring photos to represent those who are serving. The event will be videotaped and complimentary copies will be distributed to attendees to send their family members who are serving overseas for encouragement and support.

&uot;This is an effort to show our patriotism, our support and to send our prayers to those who are serving our country and protecting our freedom,&uot; said Erwin.

&uot;It is a great opportunity for the entire community to show their support for our servicemen and women and the leaders of our country in this very difficult time,&uot;

The event is open and free to the public. For information, call the Shelby County Legislative Office in Pelham at 620-6610
