Old Chapel United Methodist Church will host its second Saturday night singing on March 8 at 7 p.m.

Gospel Music Extravaganza will be held at Coosa Valley Missionary Baptist Church on March 22 at 6 p.m. The program will feature Coosa Valley Male Chorus, Mt. Olive Baptist Church Choir, Countyettes, Bakers Grove Male Chorus, Evangel Temple Male Chorus and the Shiloh Baptist Church Choir.

More than 100 men gather on Tuesday mornings to improve their lives through &uot;Quest for Authentic Manhood&uot; taught by Bill Elder, pastor of Mountaintop Community Church. The 12-week series runs from 6-7:30 a.m. through April 1 at the church in Vestavia Hills. Sessions are offered at no charge. Call 823-7090 for information.

Providence Baptist Church in Harpersville will have a gospel singing on March 22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Steel City Quartet will be the guest singers.

Fourmile Baptist Church will have a special guest speaker on March 16 at 6 p.m. Jimmie Ruth Caughron, whose husband was a former pastor at Fourmile in the 1960s, will speak about the mission opportunities in her life. She will also sing, play the piano and share a special song about her daughter, Carla. Bring a favorite snack and join in the fellowship following the service.

The women of Cahaba Valley Church, an ecumenical church of Christ, will meet for lunch on March 5 at noon at Pablo’s on Highway 150, on the west end of the Wal-Mart shopping center.

Valleydale Baptist Church will host &uot;Discovering Valleydale,&uot; an introduction class for guests and new members on March 9 from 4-7 p.m. in the choir room. Discussed will be philosophy of ministry, beliefs, values and vision for the future. It is a great first step for people new to the church and a requirement for membership. Childcare is available for birth through fifth grades. A snack supper is provided for adults and children.

Vandiver Church of God will host a revival March 9-12 with guest speaker Dennis Page. Sunday night services begin at 6 p.m. Other services are at 7 p.m. The church is located on Highway 43 in Vandiver.

The First United Methodist Church of Montevallo will have its jazz communion worship the second Sunday of March at 11 a.m.

Calera First United Methodist Church’s second annual community-wide Easter egg hunt will be April 19 in Oliver Park in Calera. For information, call Melinda Gibson at 668-2439 or the church office at 668-0951.

Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Harpersville will host Family Spiritual Renewal Week March 10-13 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest speaker will be pastor Larry G. Weathers of Antioch Baptist Church in Gadsden.

Alabaster AGLOW will have a program on March 6 with fellowship at 6:30 p.m. and worship beginning at 7 p.m. Speaker for the month will be Jamie Massey.

Noah’s Nook, Valleydale Baptist Church’s Mother’s Day Out Ministry classes are offered Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Applications from the community will be accepted Feb. 27 at 9:30 a.m. in the Cross Roads. Union United Methodist Church will have a &uot;country supper&uot; fund-raiser on Saturday, March 8 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Meal tickets for county-style veggies, meats and desserts are $6 for adults and $3 for children under age 12. All proceeds will go toward missions. The church is located at intersection of County Roads 51 and 32 off U.S. 280.

March 5 at 7 p.m. – Ash Wednesday Worship. Gather in the sanctuary to begin the observance of the season of Lent including the imposition of ashes. Lent is a time of fasting, prayer and service.

March 9 at 5:30 p.m. – Sunday supper sponsored by Sylvia Allen’s Shepherd Group.

April 17 at 7 p.m. – Maundy Thursday worship with communion.

April 18 at 7 p.m. – Good Friday worship.

April 20 at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. – Easter Sunday worship. Special program with breakfast and egg hunt at 9:15 a.m.

June 9-14 – Intergenerational event to kick off Vacation Bible School, which will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Lakeside Baptist Church will host its Vacation Bible School, &uot;The Great Kingdom Kids Caper: Cracking the Character Code,&uot; on June 2-6. The church is located on Old Rocky Ridge Road in Birmingham.

Lakeside Baptist Church offers ladies aerobics classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9-10 a.m. Evening classes will begin March 4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. There is no charge.
