Michael Bottchen of Pelham High School

Michael Bottchen of Pelham High School recently signed a swimming scholarship with Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Fla., known for national swimming excellence. Accomplishments include: 2000 AHSAA Swimming Champion-ship, 3rd place finish in 200 Yard Freestyle, 4th place finish in 100 yard butterfly; US Swimming Sectional Championship, 8th place finish in 200 yard butterfly; SE Swimming Long Course Championship, 4th place finish in 100 yard freestyle, 3rd place finish in 200 Yard Freestyle, 6th place finish in 400 yard freestyle, 6th place finish in 800 Yard Freestyle, 2nd place finish in 1500 yard freestyle, 4th place finish in 100 yard butterfly, 11th place finish in 200 yard butterfly. Bottchen is the son of Steven and Cecilia Bottchen of Alabaster and the grandson of Mike and Betty Bottchen of Alabaster and Betty Marcus Scott of Hueytown. He has a sister, Meredith, a 1998 graduate of Pelham
