The third annual Greystone Invitational Golf Tournament is set for June 13-15 with an 8 a.m. tee time each day.

The 54-hole event will be held at the Greystone Golf and Country Club on the Rees Jones-designed Legacy Course, which opened in September 2000.

Organizers say the goal of the tournament is to bring together the best amateur golfers to play on a tremendously challenging course. The play is open all golfers of excellent skill who gain entrance to the field by being one of the low 144 players to apply.

Another goal, they say, is to raise money for the Greystone Outreach Legacy Foundation charitable trust. GOLF, in conjunction with 1st Tee, brings the opportunity to learn about the game of golf to those who might not have access as well as award scholarships.

More than 900 individuals requested invitations for this year’s event. Only 144 players will make the field with 14 colleges, 16 states and three countries represented. Also included in the field will be nine champions from the Southeast. National Titleist Points, which determine who plays on the Walker Cup National Team, as well as Alabama Golf Association points will be available.
