Police arrest Lusco for rape

Alabaster Police have charged a 28-year-old resident of the city with kidnapping, rape, sodomy and attempted murder of a 43-year-old female resident.

According to the Alabaster Police Department, Robert &uot;Bobby&uot; J. Lusco, 28, of Alabaster was charged with first degree kidnapping, first degree rape, first degree sodomy and attempted murder on Wednesday, July 16.

Police report that the charges are the result of an investigation that began July 13 when a 43-year-old female from Alabaster reported she had been kidnapped and assaulted.

&uot;The victim was able to provide enough information to use that we were able to identify Mr. Lusco as a suspect,&uot; Capt. Curtis Rigney said.

&uot;A search warrant was executed at his residence at 287 Smokey Road in Alabaster. Detectives recovered evidence at his residence that connected him to the crimes.&uot;

According to police, the victim said she was held at Lusco’s residence and repeatedly assaulted before being released 12 hours later.

Police reported that the victim was being treated at a local hospital for injuries and that Bobby Lusco was transported to the Shelby County Jail on a bond of $500,000.

At presstime, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported that Lusco was still being held in the county jail
