DAY CAMPS

The Columbiana Parks and Recreation Board will sponsor five three-day camps and five community cookouts. The camps and cookouts are free to the public and will be organized and administered by the Shelby County High School coaching staff. GOLF TOURNEY

The Montevallo Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will be held at the Montevallo Golf Club on Sat., July 26 beginning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Registration will be held at 7 a.m. The tournament will be played in foursomes with two man teams using handicaps (20 percent handicap rule, 6 tee shot minimum per player). Price is $49 per person and includes cart, green fee and a &uot;fresh off the grill&uot; meal. Mulligans will be 2 for $10 (limit 2). TENNIS CAMP

Summer tennis camps will be held at the Alabaster Municipal Park Tennis Courts for boys and girls beginners (ages 6-17) on July 28-31.

Amy Jorgensen, former Big North Conference champion,

District champion, Regional runner-up and state qualifier, will be the instructor.

Jorgensen has 2 years experience at the Grand Traverse Resort and over 15 years tennis experience. Equipment needed will be tennis racquet, watter bottle, dress comfortable/tennis shoes, no jeans. GOLF TOURNEY

Shelby Elementary School PTO will hold a celebrity golf tournament at Magnolia Meadows Golf Course on August 23. This is a 4-man scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $50 per person and includes cart, 18 holes of golf with celebrities, mulligan ($5, maximum of 2), prizes for first place and closest to the pin. REGISTRATION

Calera Youth football registration will be held Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the girls softball building at Oliver Park for ages 5-13. Players need to be present for equipment distribution. For more information, call Hank Lucas at 668-9716.

SOCCER REGISTRATION

Fall registration is in progress for the Chelsea Soccer Club.

Everyone from ages 4-17 (as of Aug. 1) is welcome.

Ages 4-7 play in the intramural league for a fee of $75, which includes team jersey.

The older kids play in the Mid-State Soccer League for a fee of $100 and an additional $38 for uniform. There are several methods to register. Walk-in registration will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Chelsea Elementary School.
