Kudzu Run to be Sept. 6

The 20th Annual Kudzu Run and Car Show will be Saturday, Sept. 6 in Old Town Helena.

Proceeds from the 5-K run and registration fees from the car show will benefit Camp Smile-A-Mile, a program for local children with cancer.

The 5-K (3.1 mile) road race begins at 8 a.m. Late registration will be 6:45-7:30 a.m. near the caboose in Old Town Helena.

Registration fees for all runners are $12 if received by Aug. 29, and $14 (including a $2 service charge) online with a credit card by Sept. 3, and $15 the day of the race.

Entry forms are available at sporting goods stores, health clubs and online at www.postherald.com.

T-shirts will be provided for all entrants. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and top three female overall finishers, and to the top three finishers in each age division.

Door prizes will be awarded while runners await results.

Events also include the Kudzu Car Show featuring an impressive assembly of classic and collectible cars from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Shelby County Humane Society pet adoptions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the car show is free.

Registration fee to enter a vehicle in the car show is $12. Entry fee includes a T-shirt. Trophies will be awarded to class winners and Best of Show.
