A new 24,000-square-foot retail development center is coming to Alabaster.

The new center, to be called Patriot Corner, will be located at the corner of U.S. Highway 31 and County Road 11 behind the avenue of flags monument.

According to Cam Ward, executive director of the Alabaster Industrial Development Board, Shelby Baptist Medical Center is one mile north of the site known as Kelly’s Corner which is passed by more than 25,000 cars daily.

Ward said the shopping center is being developed by Tony Petelos and marketed by Tim Reddock of Southpace Properties.

Patriot Corner is scheduled to include a bank, hotel and 24,000-square-feet of retail shopping.

&uot;This shopping center will really be an attractive addition to Alabaster’s business community,&uot; Ward said.

He said the development board had been working with Petelos for more than a year to discuss his interest in developing the property.

&uot;Once he purchased and cleared the property, it was only a matter of time before this entrance to the city was fully developed.&uot;

Ward said the development will be visible behind the avenue of flags monument.

He said the city is working with Petelos in the design and layout of entrances and exits to the property to make sure there is no additional traffic congestion at the busy intersection
