Calera defeated Goshen 31-0 to set up a matchup against Luverne for the Class 2A, Region 3 title this Friday night.

And even though former University of Alabama head coach Mike DuBose will be on the opposing sideline, Calera coach Ken Adams said the game is a big one for one reason only.

&uot;It comes down to we win, we host; we don’t, we’re on the road,&uot; Adams said.

If Calera wins the region title by defeating the DuBose-coached Luverne, the Eagles will have a first round home game in the playoffs.

While Adams said he is not intimidated by DuBose, he does respect the former Crimson Tide coach.

&uot;I’m glad that he’s coaching high school football,&uot; he said. &uot;It shows a lot about the kind of man he is that he is still coaching high school football.&uot;

Adams’ Eagles set up the title match with Luverne by shutting out region foe Goshen last Friday.

Calera had 434 yards of total offense in the game while holding Goshen to 51 total yards and just six first downs.

The Eagles were led on offense by C.J. Pearson who carried just three times for 146 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown run.

T.J. Green rushed for 82 yards on seven carries and David Lacey carried five times for 71 yards and a score.

The defense was led by Tim Baker, Scott Hall, Paul Delbridge, Jake Garzarek and Lacey
