Pelham loses shootout

Mountain Brook was heavily favored, but Pelham played the Spartans to the wire in a 49-41 shootout that ended in a Panthers loss last Friday night.
Pelham finished the season
at 4-6 overall and tied for last place in Class 6A, Region 6 with Oak Mountain.
The Panthers rushed for 198 yards in the contest that saw 766 yards of total offense piled up by the two teams.
Drew Burleson rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns for Pelham on 15 carries.
E.J. O’Hara also scored twice and rushed for 60 yards.
Quarterback Chase Armstrong picked up 38 yards rushing and was 13-of-24 passing for 156 yards. He threw one touchdown &045; a 14-yard toss to receiver Montez Billings &045; and an interception.
Billings had 6 receptions for 75 yards.
Tyler Payne had 3 receptions for 55 yards and Ryan Barker caught 2 balls for 12 yards.
Pelham was led defensively by Scooter Alford with 12 tackles and Rusty Jones who recorded 10 stops and an interception
