Police are seeking two suspects in a string of robberies along U.S. Highway 31 in Pelham and Alabaster.

The suspects may be linked to other robberies in the county over the weekend.

Capt. Curtis Rigney of the Alabaster Police Department said two males entered Taco Bell at about noon last Friday and demanded money. The suspects left Taco Bell empty-handed, however.

Rigney said employees snuck out the back door of the restaurant after the suspects produced a gun. Employees alerted an officer who happened to be nearby, and the suspects left.

Rigney said the suspects may have left the attempted robbery at Taco Bell in a small red vehicle. One suspect was described as about 6 feet 2 inches tall; witnesses described the second suspect as short.

Pelham police responded to KFC on U.S. 31 Saturday at about 9 p.m., according to Capt. Tommy Thomas. Two males reportedly entered the restaurant and demanded money, Thomas said.

Thomas said Other robberies at convenience stores in the county might be the work of the same two suspects.

Capt. Chris Corbell of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department said suspects robbed The Country Store on Highway 155 Friday at about 3 p.m. Two males entered the store with a handgun and demanded money, according to Corbell.

The sheriff’s department responded to another robbery in the county on Saturday at Sunny Foods on Caldwell Mill Road. One male entered the store with a handgun and demanded money at about 11 a.m
