Baskets fall for Columbiana kids

The Columbiana youth basketball league recently completed another week of competition.

GIRLS DIVISION

The Sharpshooters defeated the Crazy Cats 38 to 18. Alysia Perkins led the Sharpshooters with 16 points followed by Chelsea O’Shield, Aulivia Baker and Ashley Mizzell with 6, 6, and 4 points respectively. Andrea Corley, Kira Chudhry and Jalanda Carter each scored 4 points while Jessica Williams scored 2 points for the Crazy Cats.

The Court Devils beat the Hurricanes 30 to 22. Whitney Green led the Court Devils with 17 points, followed by Sarah Walker with 8 and Rainey Ketcham and Kellie Smith with 2 each. Jodi King and Cynthia Etress scored 9 points each for the Hurricanes while Jessica Rasco and Jana Armstrong assisted.

The Jaguars outscored the Lady Blazers 21 to 14. Hailey Pate scored 10 points, followed by Elizabeth Dudley, Brooklyn Strozier and Kailey Goodwin with 4, 2, and 2 points respectively. Kelsie Knight led the Lady Blazers with 9 points with assists from Lindsey Brechin, Adrienne Larsin and Sarah Horton.

BOYS DIVISION

Division 1

The Wizards beat the Bulldogs 26 to 20. Will Walker led the Wizards with 20 points, followed by Tim Warren and Kayle Hawk with 2 each and an assist from Luke Corn. Hunter Morris contributed 12 points to the Bulldogs, Lee Mooney gave 3, Brandy Gassaway scored 2 and Jarod and Wade Martin each scored 1.

The Dragons defeated the Bobcats 28 to 17. Spencer Dill and Brodie Moore scored 8 points each while Tyrin Johnson and Mack Slaughter contributed 6 and 2 points. The Bobcats’ leading scorers included Jonathan Palmer, Will Prosser, and Tyler Mizell with 10, 2, and 2 points respectively while Cole Pate hustled on defense.

Division 2

The Blazers edged past the Gym Rats 32 to 30. Chase Payne led the Blazers with 26 points, followed by Dra Dozier with 2 and numerous assists from Nathan Carter and Cody Garrett. Tyler Madison scored 12 points for the Gymrats with Blake Odgers, Devon Scales, and Josh Beasley giving 5, 4, and 2 points respectively.

The Jammers outscored the Patriots 22 to 14. Dakota Falkner, Chase Crumpton, Brannon Jones and Evan Nash led the Jammers with 6, 6, 4, and 2 points respectively. The Patriots’ Mike Pate, Sam Hutchinson and Tristian Chandler scored 6, 3, and 2 points while Hunter Ray assisted.

Division 3

The Globetrotters defeated the Kings 35 to 29. Tae Lewis led the Globetrotters with 14 points, followed by Steven Bulger, Joey Pate and Eric Wilcox with 6, 4, and 2 points. Brent Ross, Clint Carden, Kevin McNorton and Chelsea Dunnaway scored 14, 7, 6, and 2 points respectively for the Kings.

The Sixers outscored the Lakers 45 to 31. Lead scorers for the Sixers were Jordan Simon with 17, Chad King with 16 and Ryan Etress and Darion Avery with 4 apiece. Ty

Lollar, Keaton Wood, Andrew Massey, Slade Martin and Taylor Harper scored 11, 10, 6, 2 and 2 points respectively.

Division 4

The Rainbows trounced the 76ers 37 to 15. Aaron Bush led the Rainbows with 14 points followed by Jared Brown, Alex McCloud, Jared Perkins and Joshua Smith with 8, 5, 4, and 4 points respectively. The 76ers’ lead scorers included Tiriez O’Neal, Adam Reaves, Blake Carlee and William Davis with 6, 4, 3, and 2 points respectively.

The Kings outscored the Hoosiers 36 to 20. Derrick Davis, Chad Hughes, Jesse Wallace and Tyler Harris scored 8, 7, 6, and 6 points respectively for the Kings. John Walden led the Hoosiers with 9 points followed by Jamal Brown with 7 and Clint Mooney and Dustin Wright with 2 each
