Armed men hit Calera store

The Kozy Korner convenience store in south Calera was hit by two armed gunmen during a robbery Saturday night.

According to Calera Police Capt. Tommy Palmer, two masked white males entered the convenience store on U.S. Highway 31 in south Calera

about 8:55 p.m. The store is located near the Chilton-Shelby county line.

One of the suspects wielded a handgun, and the other had a shotgun, Palmer said. They took $1,069 from the register.

The only employee working at the store during the robbery was not injured.

The two suspects fled in a large, older car. Palmer said an investigation is ongoing
