Racing his late-model car, Chelsea driver Charlie Bradberry’s weekend went from bad to worse as he finished seventh in Pensacola, Fla., and then did not finish in Mobile.

After qualifying fifth for the Pensacola race, Bradberry experienced several mishaps.

&uot;I have won several times in Pensicola and I was going to try a lot of different stuff on the track, stuff on the car and it just didn’t work out,&uot; Bradberry said.

Bradberry’s failed experiment on the track was not his team’s only failure.

The whole night was ruined when one of Bradberry’s crew members, Raymond Staples, suffered a mild heart attack and was taken to a nearby hospital.

While Staples is in good condition, he is being kept at a hospital in Gulf Shores for observations.

After the disappointing race in Pensicola, Bradberry and a few of his remaining crew members picked up and went to the race in Mobile, where Bradberry qualified second.

However, after a rock flew up and got caught in his carburetor, Bradberry’s night was finished.

&uot;It was just one of those freak things,&uot; Bradberry said.

&uot;I definitely had the car to win.&uot;

Bradberry’s &uot;terrible weekend&uot; has not kept him down.

He said he hopes to run this weekend in Kentucky and has recently been in talks with a Busch team, hoping to land a ride
