From Staff Reports

The countdown has begun for Gala III, an event that will be hosted by the Montevallo Main Street Players to benefit the Parnell Memorial Library Foundation.

Gala III will offer a departure from the two previous galas.

It will take place at the home of Phil and Suzanne Hurst on Wilderwood Road at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 24.

Hurst, a world class barbecuer, will oversee the grilling of barbecue chicken and pork.

Other offerings will include side dishes and an assortment of pies and beverages. The evening will be casual, with music, games and conversation.

In addition, the popular silent auction will return, with Mary Howard serving as chair of that committee this year.

Members of the community who have items they wish to donate for the silent auction may contact Howard at 665-9903.

Tickets for Gala III this year are $50, of which $35 is tax deductible.

To order tickets, call Becky Cox-Rodgers, president of MMSP, at 665-7110.

Leading up to Gala III, members of the board of MMSP will be waiters and waitresses at Double Play Sports Grille from 5-9 p.m. on July 10.

The restaurant has created a special theatrical menu for the evening, with items like &uot;Forest Gumbo&uot; and &uot;Gone with the Wings.&uot;

Guests will have choices of seafood, sandwiches and salads at a modest cost.

All tips of the evening will go to support the library/theater project.
