Pelham 7-8-year-olds advance to district

The Pelham Panthers AA Minor All-Star Team defeated South Bibb 13-5 Saturday night to advance to the 3rd round of the winners bracket in the district tournament.

The Panthers were led by Hunter Stovall who hit two home runs in the game.

The Panthers played Monday night in Centerville. Results of that game were unavailable at presstime.

The Panthers defeated the Northside All-Star Team 11-1 on Saturday afternoon, four days after defeating the Pleasant Grove All-Star Team 8-6 to win the Sub-District Championship Tuesday night.

Pelham jumped on top in the first inning against Pleasant Grove and never looked back. Alex Urbin and Hunter Stovall each singled and scored the first two runs of the game. The Pelham All-Stars led 8-2 going into the last inning, but Pleasant Grove came rolling back with four runs and the tying run at the plate, but center fielder Zach Allison caught the last out to end the game. The Panthers defeated Hueytown, Helena and Pleasant Grove to win the championship trophy.

Pelham defeated Helena 19-18 in a dramatic come-from-behind win. The Panthers were down 12-2 before rallying in the last inning to win. The score was 18-15 at the end of the fifth inning. Pelham stopped Helena in the 6th inning then scored their last four runs to win the game. Zach Allison singled in Jack Pierce for the winning run of the game.

The Panthers knocked off Hueytown 11-10. Pelham trailed 10-6 before tying the game in the fifth inning and winning it in the sixth. Austin Moore, with one out, knocked in Sam Finnerty for the winning run. Kaelan Harrison and Patrick Carrol each went 2-for-2 for Pelham
