‘The four-laning and relocation of part of Alabama Highway 119 in Alabaster continues to make progress.

The state Highway Department project picks up at Winn Dixie near Highway 31 at the north end and ends at County Road 26 near Elliottsville Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the south end, according to the district engineer.

The engineer said east side of the grading is close being complete at the north end of the job and section of that area was being paved as of Tuesday.

And from County 264 south near Old Thompson School to the end of the project

the paving should be complete except for the final layer sometime next week.

At that time, he said, &uot;We may attempt to temporary stripe that to open that section of the highway. This it will help the traffic move a lot more efficiently

at that end.&uot;

However, the engineer said there is still a considerable amount of material to moved in the relocated portion of Highway 119 just north of the railroad on the mountain near 11th Avenue SW.

He also said a railroad crossing remains to be installed there by CSX Transportation.

The engineer said the project has been underway for more than two years.

He anticipates completion by this fall
