The town of Westover made what could be the most important move since its incorporation recently.

Taking a lesson from others who find themselves stuck in a no-win situation with &uot;uncontrollable growth,&uot; the town broke ground on its new sewer.

The planned sewer system, a private venture, with the town of Westover handling the bond issues, will serve residential and commercial customers along Highway 280, serving the towns of Westover, Harpersville, Chelsea, Wilsonville and Vincent as well as the unincorporated areas of Shelby County in-between.

Planning such as this — keeping one step ahead of the growth — will save this area from the problems others in our county are facing.

We commend those who have worked so hard to make this happen.
