Strive to help someone else

Shelby County residents have a lot to be thankful for.

We live in one of the most affluent counties in our state.

We have low poverty rates, low jobless rates and have been noted as the best county for children to grow up in by some children’s groups.

Yes, we are extremely blessed, and we should remember that tomorrow when we sit down with family and friends and enjoy our Thanksgiving meal.

But, let’s not forget that no matter how fortunate we are, there are still a few in Shelby County who do not enjoy these same blessings.

And statewide, unfortunately, there are many.

As we remember our blessings tomorrow, let’s also make a commitment to try and improve the life of another this holiday season.

What better way to say thank you for our blessings than to pass them on to someone less fortunate.

We wish everyone a safe, happy and reflective Thanksgiving
