Ward to serve on national commission

Shelby County Rep. Cam Ward has been appointed to serve on the National Commission for Uniform State Laws.

This commission promotes and strives for uniformity of laws such as the Uniform Commercial Code between the states.

Each year, the commission is required to report to the Legislature regarding advice they may have or recommendation for new laws.

&uot;It was an honor to be appointed to serve on this commission to help shape laws and policy between the states. Uniformity in laws is good to achieve when it is appropriate and benefits Alabama,&uot; Ward said.

The commission is made up of one house member, one senator, three attorneys appointed by the governor, the director of Legislative Reference Service and the director of the Alabama Law Institute
