Shelby to speak in Calera

U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby plans to discuss his agenda for the 109th session of Congress with county residents on March 5.

Shelby will address county residents at Donna’s Cafe in Calera at 7:30 a.m. that Saturday for a Dutch treat breakfast.

Shelby also plans to discuss important issues facing the nation and the state, and following his remarks, he plans to open the floor to questions and comments.

Since being elected to serve the state of Alabama, Shelby has held more than 1,200 county meetings, one in each county every year.

&uot;Over the years, these meetings have provided an excellent opportunity for area residents to listen and voice their opinions on the activities or our government,&uot; Shelby said.

The meeting is open to the public.
