Members of the Shelby County School Board did the only thing they could do – they approved a year-round calendar for Vincent Elementary and Vincent Middle/High.

Despite rantings from one of those board members, the Vincent community got its wish.

And it should have. Vincent people clearly love the schedule their little town has grown accustomed to.

The citizens made that clear at the board’s January meeting, and the majority of board members made those wishes a priority during the school board meeting last week.

VHS principal Gary Minnick should be applauded for breaking the situation down to the lick log – it is not the statistics, no matter what they say, that are important. It’s the children. This schedule works for them and thankfully, it will continue to
