Thompson High School belted 17 hits to defeat the defending 6A state champion Pelham Panthers Friday night in Alabaster.

The Warriors quickly fell down 2-0 before exploding for seven runs in the bottom of the second inning. Thompson added three in the fifth and one more in the sixth to secure

an 11-4 win.

The victory moved the Warriors to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in region play.

Pitcher Austin Lucas earned the win, striking out three across five innings for Thompson.

Ryan Chase fanned six in two innings of relief.

The Warriors were led at the plate by third baseman Nick Harris, who went 3-for-4 with

three RBIs and two runs scored.

Malachi Gandy had three hits and two RBIs.

Shortstop Ritchie Franklin, who signed last week with Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, had two hits and an RBI.

Chase Myles and Joe Sparacino each had two hits and two runs scored for Thompson.

Thompson 7, Pleasant Grove 5: Ritchie Franklin’s two-run walkoff home run gave Thompson the win with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

Franklin finished with two hits, two runs scored and 4 RBIs.

Deven Onarheim pitched one inning to earn the win for the Warriors.

Thompson 10, Pleasant Grove 6: Game two of the doubleheader was called due to rain in the sixth inning.

Michael Hooten pitched five innings to earn the win for Thompson.

Nick Harris hit a two-out, two-run homer in the fourth.

Spain Park 4, Thompson 3: Thompson held a 3-0 lead before falling apart in the bottom of the seventh at Spain Park.

Ryan Chase struck out 11 in six innings for the Warriors while Malachi Gandy earned the loss.

Thompson’s Ritchie Franklin was 3-for-3 at the plate.

Calera 4, B.B. Comer 1: The Eagles picked up their first area win of the year behind a strong pitching performance by Corey Turnbloom.

Turnbloom struck out 10 and walked none in the complete-game win.

Curtis Sherman and Matt Tracy each had two RBIs for Calera (3-6 overall).

Shelby County 7, Calera 5: The Eagles couldn’t capitalize with two on and two out in the seventh as they fell to the Wildcats.

Corey Turnbloom had two RBIs at the plate and struck out eight for Calera on the mound.

Talladega 10, Calera 9: Calera dropped its first area game at home.

Jason Adams was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Corey Turnbloom and Trey Russell each struck out seven for Calera.

Briarwood 4, Pickering (Ontario) 2: Sophomore Jeffrey Vincent pitched his first complete game to ink his first varsity win.

Vincent didn’t give up a hit until the fourth inning and struck out eight in the contest.

All four of Briarwood’s hits were doubles, including a two-bagger by Vincent.

Pickering’s runs came on solo home runs in each of the last two innings.

BCS moved to 10-6 with the win.

Briarwood 10, Sinclair (Ontario) 4: The Lions recorded a season-high 16 hits against their second Canadian opponent.

Evans Smith was 2-for-2 with four stolen bases for Briarwood.

Matt Gray pitched the complete game for the win and was 3-for-3 with two doubles at the plate.

Kevin Cope was 3-for-3 with a double and Grant Luke tripled for Briarwood in the win.

Chelsea 9, Briarwood 2: The Lions committed a season-high eight errors as they fell to Chelsea.

Kevin Cope was 2-for-4 while pitcher Grant Luke hit a solo home run and was charged with the loss.

Shelby Academy 17, Prattville Christian 1: Shelby continued its dominance of region foes with a lopsided win in Prattville.

Kevin Lackey And Josh Sharp combined for a two-hitter while Cody Wright, Colby Green, Marcus Jones and Jamie McClain all had multiple hits.

Wright was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs as the

Raiders assaulted PCA with 13 hits.

Shelby remains undefeated at 7-0 and ranked 10th in the AISA.

Shelby Academy 5, Central 0: The Raiders won their second region game with solid pitching from Josh Kervin, Jason Stokes and Jamie McClain who combined for a one-hitter.

Jake Ingram, Cody Wright and Jason Stokes came up with big hits to lead the Raiders to their sixth win
