Shelby County’s high school track and field teams are preparing for sectional meets this week to determine who qualifies for the state meet.

Oak Mountain’s Heardmont Park will host the state meet for Class 2A, 4A and 6A. Events will take place May 6-7.

Classes 1A, 3A and 5A will travel to Paul W. Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa for state competition. Those events will also be held May 6-7.

Section meets will be held this week to determine who qualifies for state competition.

Calera and Vincent will travel to Jacksonville State University Thursday for their 2A sectional.

Chelsea and Montevallo compete in the 4A Section 2 meet at Leeds High School.

In 5A competition, Briarwood Christian and Shelby County will travel to Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa for the Section 3 meet Saturday.

Shelby County track meet champion Oak Mountain will join Pelham, Spain Park and Thompson at the 6A Section 4 meet at Hoover High School. That meet will be held Friday and Saturday
