Senate actions unacceptable

The Alabama Legislature has two more days.

What concerns us is the backlog in the Senate – a backlog that is due to a month-long, irresponsible filibuster.

Now, Senators have only these two days left to pass endless local legislation from all over the state, not to mention, the general fund and education budgets.

Work in the Alabama House has continued at a steady pace while it was at a virtual standstill in the Senate and that is simply unacceptable.

There are a number of issues which may not be addressed because of this irresponsibility.

One of which is a bill which revamps the Department of Transportation. This is completely necessary for Shelby County, and it may not even come to a vote of the Senate because of a lack of time.

Our local Senators should be ashamed for not fighting harder for Shelby County
