Oak Mountain’s girls tennis team tied Vestavia Hills for second place in Class 6A at the state tournament held last week.

Mallory Waites and Alli Nolen each captured singles titles for Oak Mountain while Nolen paired up with Amy Moultrie to claim the No. 2 doubles title.

Katy Donaldson and Renee Nicholas won the No. 1 doubles title and Donaldson advanced to the finals in singles play as Briarwood Christian took second place in 5A girls competition.

Three Pelham Panthers advanced to the finals in singles play in the 6A boys tournament, but all three came up short as PHS settled for a fourth place finish. Captain Tim Ansley lost his first match of the year in the No. 6 singles finals
