POLO CLASSIC

The Birmingham Polo Classic will be held Saturday, June 11 at the Polo Fields near Shelby Academy on Highway 22. The Classic will benefit the CHIPS Clinic at Children’s Hospital, a comprehensive children’s clinic dealing with cases of sexual and physical abuse. The event will feature tailgating, hospitality tents, children’s games and a silent auction in addition to the polo match. Tickets are $10 per person for general admission and tailgating, or $75 per person for admission and a catered luncheon from Highlands Bar and Grill. Children under 10 get in free. GOLF TOURNEY

The sixth annual Calera Elks Golf Tournament will be held June 11 at the Big M Golf Course on Highway 42 in Columbiana. Proceeds will benefit the Alabama Elks Youth Camp at Lake Martin. The South Shelby Futbol Club will hold pre-registration for youth soccer in the Calera area June 18, from 1-5 p.m. at Wal-Mart in Calera. PEA RIDGE FIRE DEPT. BARBECUE/SOFTBALL

The 12th Annual Jay Boothe Memorial Softball game and Barbecue will be held Saturday, June 18 at the Pea Ridge Memorial Park. The annual fundraising event is sponsored by Pea Ridge Fire and Rescue and teams from various fire departments participate for bragging rights and trophies. Food will be provided by the Women’s Auxillary in the form of Barbecue plates (pork, beans, slaw and roll) for $6.50. Sandwiches are $3 and whole-smoked pork butts are $25. Other food and drinks will also be available. Pea Ridge Park is located off Shelby County Highway 10 in the Pea Ridge community.

HOOPS CAMP

* The All-American Soccer Academy is offering summer soccer camps for boys and girls. A day camp will be held June 19-24 and July 11-15 for ages 7-16.
