Three Shelby County athletes landed starting jobs on the offense for the Alabama All-Stars during June’s Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game in Mobile.

The Mississippi All-Stars carried a 21-10 lead into the fourth quarter of play before Alabama-MVP Jarod Bryant of Hoover High School connected with Spain Park’s Tyler Grisham.

Grisham’s 41-yard touchdown reception wasn’t enough to put Alabama on top, however, as Mississippi held on for a 21-18 victory.

Grisham, a Clemson signee, also rushed for 8 yards on one carry for the Alabama team.

Thompson High School’s Landen Vickery started at offensive guard for the Alabama All-Stars.

Vickery, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound lineman, signed with Jacksonville State in February after anchoring one of the toughest lines in the county during his senior year at Thompson.

Pelham standout Montez Billings also started at wide receiver for the Alabama team.

Billings had two receptions for 19 yards in the contest.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Billings, will try to make an impact at Auburn, where he will compete at wide receiver
