SBMC ruling unthinkable

Our court system continues to disappoint.

Most recently, it’s been a continual stream of disappointment from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Now, the disappointment is coming from an appeal’s court.

The court’s ruling last week that Shelby Baptist Medical Center did not have the right to offer open heart services is unthinkable. The entire system is unthinkable, actually.

Free enterprise is one of the

foundations on which our country was built.

The idea that a state organization, based solely on the decision of a group of citizens who may be influenced by the competition, is allowed to determine the services offered by a private business is unthinkable and distinctly un-American.

SBMC is meeting a great need in Shelby County for our own residents and for residents in nearby counties.

Continue the fight, hospital officials. It’s a fight for you; but it’s also a fight for freedom
