DONALD EDWARDS

Calera resident

Donald Edwards, 84, of Calera died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, in Dargin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sara Coker Edwards. He was a veteran of World War II and had retired from U.S. Steel in Fairfield. He was a longtime member of Calera Baptist Church where he served as deacon and treasurer for many years.

He is survived by six nieces and nephews, Ellwood (Ann) Edwards, Robert Edwards, Elba (Wallace) Skinner, Frances (Jim) Cook, Rebecca (Odie) Gregg and Laura Gregory; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Service was Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. at Calera Baptist Church, Dr. Hal Warren presiding. Burial followed in Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

JOHN H. HALE JR.

Birmingham resident

John H. Hale Jr., 62, of Birmingham died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005. He was the owner and operator of John Hale Excavating Company. He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Hale Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie C. Hale; his mother, Jacket Marie S. Hale; his son, John Travis (Phyllis) Hale; two sisters, Chris (Tommy) H. Bullard and Phyllis H. (Doug) Black; two grandsons, Travis Wayne Hale and Randy Travis Hale; and two stepdaughters, Sue Ann Brooks and Brandy Marie Brooks.

Service will be today, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Chapel, Pastor Hubert Gray presiding. Burial followed in Patton Chapel Cemetery, Ridout’s Southern Heritage directing.

MARY HETHCOX

Sterrett resident

Mary Hethcox, 57, of Sterrett died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005. She was born Sept. 30, 1947, in Shelby and was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Hethcox, and a son, Eddie Hethcox.

She is survived by her children, Melaine (Mike) Bailey, Sherry (Wayne) Amberson and Beth (Lee) Smith; nine grandchildren; her brother, Jesse (Clara Lee) Poe; her sisters, Mary Louise Cheeks, Vera Mae Poe, Syretha Poe, Martha Lambert, Donna Patterson, Bertha Elaine Poe, Connie Smith and Mary Nell Bailey.

Graveside service was Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. at Harpersville City Cemetery, the Rev. T.W. Woods presiding and Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

MARY D. HUGHES

Montevallo resident

Mary D. Hughes, 79, of Montevallo died. She was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Chilton County.

Graveside service was Aug. 9 at 11 a.m.

at Shelby Memory Gardens.

CLARA MAE INGRAM

Columbiana resident

Clara Mae Ingram, 50, of Columbiana died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005. She was born Feb. 6, 1955, in Sylacauga and was preceded in death by her father, Amos Vining.

She is survived by her fiance, John Vroegh; her daughter, Kathy (Tony) Marler; her mother, Flora Mae Vining; her brother, Ricky Vining; her sister, Betty (Donnie) Taylor; her grandchildren, Danielle Poe, Dakote Marler and Amanda Marler; nieces and nephews, Terry and Samantha Taylor and Sabrina (B.J.) Lucas; great-niece and great-nephew, Kelsie and Landon Lucas; special friend, Harold Ingram; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside service was Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. at Hubbard Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

JANE KENNEDY

Wilsonville resident

Jane Kennedy, 57, of Wilsonville died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005. She was born April 8, 1948, in Sylacauga. She was an educator at Wilsonville Elementary and Columbiana Middle schools since 1970. She was a member of Wilsonville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, Lewis H. Cosper.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel H. Kennedy; her daughter, Joanne (Eddie) Carter of Pelham; her grandchildren, Lauren and Ethan Carter of Pelham; her mother, Bertha Cosper of Wilsonville; her sister, Rosemary Liveoak of Wilsonville; her niece, Cristin Liveoak of Wilsonville; and her aunt and uncle, Robert and Vesta Dorsey of Wilsonville.

Graveside service was Aug. 5 at Pinelawn Gardens, the Rev. Steve Thomas presiding and Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Wynona Sanderson McNees, 81, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005. She was born April 11, 1924.

Jemison resident

Elouise Ward, 66, of Jemison died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005.

Service was Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at Rockco’s Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, Bishop L.V. Jones presiding. Burial followed at Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, Rockco’s directing.
