Student to the Week: Daniel Bulger

Daniel Bulger, a 16-year-old junior, at Cornerstone Christian School, is Shelby County Reporter Student of the Week.
He was selected for the honor by CCS headmaster Laurie Porter.
According to the school’s guidance counselor, Cyndi Sims, Daniel is an all-around student athlete.
He is an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Columbiana and serves his school, church and community by volunteering in the school office, attending mission projects and serving as vice president of the Student Government Association as well, Sims said.
Daniel is the son of Ollie and Doug Bulger of Columbiana and the grandson of Jean Etress.
He has one brother, Stephen, age 13, who attends Columbiana Middle School.
Daniel is also the grandson of the late Don Bulger, legendary former head football coach at Shelby County High School.
Daniel said his favorite subject in school is English because, &8221;It’s most interesting.&8220;
His favorite teacher is CCS coach Jay Adams because, &8221;He makes everything interesting. He’s why I like English.&8220;
Also, according to Sims, Daniel maintains a 4.0 grade point average and is a member in excellent standing with the National Honor Society.
Daniel is also listed among Who’s Who American High School Students, is a member of Cornerstone Boys State Championship basketball team and plays center on the football team.
Daniel said his favorite superhero is Spiderman because of what he can do with his spiderwebs.
Daniel explained his answer saying, &8221;I’m not a real complex guy.&8220;
As to the future, Daniel said he plans to attend Auburn University and major in pre-law
