Calera drops Billingsley, 42-22

The Calera Eagles used the legs of running back Kaderious Lacey Friday night as they defeated Billingsley, 42-22.

Lacey finished the game with 194 yards on 14 carries and four touchdowns, while on defense he added nine tackles, a sack and an interception return for a touchdown.

Billingsley struck first in the game on a three-yard run by Jamar Hopson, but the Bears were unable to stop a Calera offense that answered Hopson’s score with three touchdowns in the first half.

Lacey scored the Eagles first touchdown on a 70-yard scamper and made another trip to the end zone on a two-yard run. Kevin Watkins finished out the scoring for Calera in the first half with a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Lacey added two more scores in the second half and Rico Jones reached the end zone from four yards out to round out the Eagles’ scoring.

Calera will head to rival Vincent this week. Both teams have sealed up a playoff spot in the Class 2A, Region 3 post season record.
