The Evangel Lightning (8-1) gave up only 82 yards in their 40-8 victory over the Aaron Academy Royals (7-2) Friday night.

The win closes out the regular season for Evangel.

The defense, led by Jacob Snuggs with nine tackles, allowed the Royals one score on the night.

Aaron was held to three first downs in the game, with Daniel Reed scoring the Royals’ only TD in the first quarter on a 45 yard run.

Lightning QB Richard Ketcham connected with both Cody Browning and Kevin Marlowe for scores of 30 and 20 yards respectively.

Ketcham passed for 119 yards, completing 6-of-12 passes.

Marlowe also scored on a 20-yard run. Clint Armstrong, Houston Walker and Geoffrey Dean each added a Lightning TD. Armstrong led the Lightning with 122 yards on 14 carries.

Evangel will take part in the Tennessee Valley Conference playoffs Oct. 28, in Nashville Tenn
