Commander returns from Iraq

Navy Reserve Cmdr. Tim Simpson was welcomed home Tuesday, Oct. 18 by family and friends after seven months deployment in Iraq. This was Simpson’s second trip, having first been deployed during Desert Storm. He commanded the 425 Troop Battalion from Huntsville, which is made up of military personnel from 26 states. Simpson will take the rank of captain on Nov. 5. His wife, Pam, daughter, Angela, and son, Jonathan reside in Hatchachubee. Angela is currently a student at the University of Montevallo. Simpson is the son of Ray and Lenore Simpson of Wilsonville and the brother of Deanetta Simpson and Susan Johnston. These family members along with nieces Elizabeth Johnston and Amanda Simpson and several dozen church members from his church were on hand at the airport to green Simpson.
