The seventh annual CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Roast is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8 at the Pelham Civic Complex.

The evening will begin with a silent auction at 6 p.m. followed by the dinner and the roast at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s honorees will be Shelby County Mayors Sonny Penhale of Helena and George Roy of Calera.

Pelham Mayor Bobby Hayes will serve as master of ceremony for the fun-filled evening.

Both Penhale and Roy have hundreds of humorous political skeletons in their closets, and there are people lining up to tell about them, according to CASA executive director Beth Chapman.

The biggest mistake they will find they’ve made is ever telling their &8220;good friend&8221; Mayor Hayes anything that could become socially incriminating or completely humiliating.

Hayes is known for holding nothing back, Chapman said.

&8220;He takes no prisoners.&8221;

Mayors Penhale and Roy are sure to be a dynamic duo for this seventh annual event, and Mayor Hayes is sure to be the one to light the fuse, Chapman predicted.

&8220;Needless to say, they’re both a little nervous about the level of roasting that occurs at this annual event,&8221; she said.

&8220;You never know who your friends are and you never know who your enemies are.

In this case, they could be both.&8221;

The CASA Roast is truly the &8220;Who’s Who&8221; event of the year in Shelby County.

It has boasted a sell-out crowd for six consecutive years. Those interested in attending are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.

Among the silent auction items for the event are weekend get-a-ways to Destin, Fla., local golf packages, dinner packages, and more.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nonprofit organization that recruits and trains volunteers to go through the court process with abused and neglected children.

CASA volunteers are a child’s &8220;voice&8221; in court.
