Church focus: Fourmile teaching others

Fourmile Baptist Church is located at 15445 Highway 61 in Wilsonville. Led by pastor Gary Jones, the church serves about 150 members.

Jones, who grew up in Verbena and currently lives in Wilsonville, has previously served as pastor of Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Chilton County, and as youth pastor of Mulberry Baptist Church. Jones received his associate’s degree in Christian ministry from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary at Leavell College.

Fourmile Baptist Church was founded in 1824. Some of the ministries of the church include a Wednesday Bible study at 7 p.m. as well as a Bible study each Sunday morning at 9:45. The church conducts discipleship training at 6 p.m. and youth and children activities throughout the month on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

According to Jones, the role of the church in society is to serve God.

&8220;Our mission is to serve our Lord and savior by praising his name and teaching others about his love,&8221; Jones said.

Jones said the church provides opportunities for strengthening the community and families.

&8220;Providing opportunities for worship and Bible study and special activities and programs allows us to minister to the community,&8221; Jones said.

In addition, many members of the congregation participate in the work of the Shelby Baptist Association.

Sunday worship schedule:

Sunday school 9:45 a.m.

Worship service at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Discipleship training 6 p.m.
