The Thompson Lady Warriors won their fourth-straight game Thursday night, soundly defeating Hueytown, 79-43, and moving their overall record to 10-1 on the season.

Thompson opened up a 45-22 lead at halftime and never let up, but head coach Cara Crosslin said her team is still struggling to execute the way they should.

&8220;We played well two of our last three games,&8221; Crosslin said. But the teams we played did not play as well as they could have.&8221;

Zoriah Williams led the

Lady Warriors in scoring against Hueytown, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds and two steals. Williams’ teammates Rhonda Watts and Chasity Herron both scored in double digits for Thompson, finishing with 16 and 11 points respectively.

Watts continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 15 points per game with 21 assists and 29 steals. Herron is averaging 11 points per game and 10.3 boards while teammate Tamara Williams is netting an average of 13 points per game and 7.6 rebounds.

The Lady Warriors are currently playing in the Shelby County Tournament as the No. 1 seed, averaging 57.5 points per game compared to their opponents’ 40.3 ppg.

Crosslin said the tournament will give her team a better perspective about where they stand this season.

&8220;We have the Shelby County tourney this week and the Lauderdale County tourney the day after Christmas,&8221; Crosslin said. &8220;We’ll know more about where we’re at after these tourneys.&8221;

Spain Park 61, Shades Valley 30: The Spain Park Lady Jaguars defeated Shades Valley Saturday, jumping out to a 31-10 lead in the first half and eventually winning, 61-30.

Alex Whitaker led the Jags in scoring with 10 points while Cilia Whitaker, Tiffany Thomas and Tiaren Young netted eight points each for Spain Park.

Calera 62, Tarrant 49: Shanavia Dowdell netted 31 points for the Eagles Saturday as Calera defeated Tarrant, 62-49, and moved to 7-3 on the season.

Jalisha Thomas added 12 points for Calera in the victory.

Coosa Valley 50, Marion Academy 36: The Coosa Valley Lady Rebels took home first place in their own tournament Saturday, winning the championship game over Marion Academy, 50-36.

Kimberli Rutledge scored 21 points in the game and took home the tournament MVP award while teammate Erica Hurst netted eight points and finished with 10 rebounds for the Lady Rebels.

Kingwood 65, SMCA 48:

The Kingwood Christian Lady Lions defeated SMCA Saturday in the Kingwood Christian Tournament consolation game, 65-48, after losing to Glenwood in the final game of the round-robin tourney, 62-42.

Hannah Phillips led the Lions in both games, scoring 23 in each contest. Kayla Cates had 14 points for the Lions in the win over SMCA.

Vestavia Hills 58, Pelham 30: The Vestavia Hills Rebels hit 9-of-11 shots in the first quarter Friday night and went on to defeat the Panthers, 58-30, in the Class 6A, Region 6 matchup.

The inexperienced Panthers turned the ball over seven times and hit only 8-of-16 shots in the first eight minutes against the Rebels.

Korigel Padgett and Whitney Hudson led Pelham in scoring with six points each as the Lady Panthers fell to 6-9 overall and 0-3 in Region 6 play.

Hoover 77, Oak Mountain 36: The Oak Mountain Eagles couldn’t gain any momentum against the Bucs Friday night, falling, 77-36.

The Eagles’ Kate Jazinski finished with a team-high 12 points in the loss.

Chelsea 35, Shelby County 30: The Chelsea Lady Hornets edged the Shelby County Lady Wildcats Friday night, 35-30.

The Hornets moved to 7-3 on the season with the help of Charlie Bowman, who scored nine points. Lindi Thompson finished with six points, 11 boards and two assists for Chelsea
